Rata Cafe, Victoria St, Cambridge

We visited Rata Cafe recently for an early morning (early for me is about 10-ish :) ) coffee and cake.

The cake was yum and delivered with your choice of yoghurt orĀ  cream. In fact it was so good that I barely got any - my personal taste-tester decided that she would just carry on eating it. The coffees were also really good. Good strength and nice and hot.

Unfortunately, we didn’t really have much time to linger and enjoy, so Rata is on the “return here” list.

Frans Cafe, Victoria St, Cambridge

Frans Cafe has a huge array of food on offer. We visited for breakfast and every cabinet there was absolutely full with food. We ordered pancakes and a big breakfast, and a soy mocha and trim latte.

The big breakfast was big, with just about every array of fried breakfast food you could imagine. The pancakes were very thin and light (just how I like them), served with a selection of fruit and maple syrup - a rasher of bacon would have been nice, but one cannot really complain.

I felt my coffee was a bit average. It sort of had a bit of a burnt taste to it, but the latte was deemed fine. Note than on a subsequent visit a couple of days later my soy mocha tasted much better, so the burnt taste may have just been a one off.
